The Lemosho route is one of the newest Kilimanjaro routes. It was introduced as an alternative to the Shira route, which starts at a higher and therefore more challenging altitude.
Climbers love Lemosho route due to scenery change from day to day. This route has a beautiful approach through the forest on the first day through the Lemosho Glades from the west before joining the Machame trail at the Shira Plateau and contouring around the dramatic southern flank of the mountain via Barranco Camp, Karanga Camp and then on to Barafu camp for the summit push. The descent is via Millennium Camp and through Mweka Gate.
The Lemosho route is considered one of the easier routes on Kilimanjaro, as its longer itinerary (7 to 9 days) allows for better acclimatization. However, hikers will still need to ascend the Barranco Wall and climb steeply on summit night.
The Lemosho Route avoids the crowds on the early part of the Machame route and over 8 days, you have a fantastic journey and a great chance of summiting successfully.
Lemosho route use camping accommodation.
The Lemosho trail is the only path that starts on the western slopes of the mountain.
WHY LEMOSHO ROUTE
